"Abraham-Louis Perrelet: One of the five great masters who may justly be called the fathers of watchmaking"

Born in 1729 Abraham-Louis Perrelet was an innovative watchmaker since his youth. His father was a farmer and carpenter, but was also a skilled craftsman, manufacturing extremely precise tools for local watchmakers. Working with his father, plowing fields and assisting with the joinery in winter months, sharpening saws and fashioning little bellows, Abraham-Louis developed a passionate interest in watchmaking. At the age of 20, he decided to focus entirely on watchmaking.

Through the years as his reputation as an inventor and skilled craftsman grew and his expertise was soon in great demand. He produced the first ever watches with cylinder, duplex, date and equation escapements. He perfected the finishing and enhanced the pinions, wheels, escapements and winding mechanism.   Abraham-Louis Breguet was trained in his workshops as well as his grandson, Louis-Frédéric Perrelet, inventor of the split second chronograph.  Amazingly his dexterity and extraordinary steadiness of hand did not diminish with age. The Musee Innternational d'Hortogerie in La Chaux de-Fonds houses what is surely one of his very last works, created at the age of 96. He passed away in 1826 having devoted almost 80 years to developing watchmaking techniques.

This series is limited to 100 pieces total with 50 available in 18kt rose gold, and 50 available in 18kt white gold. Of all of the pieces, half are decorated with black dials and the other are white dials, making four variations of only 25 pieces. This watch houses a Paul Gerber movement in an 18kt rose gold case with a white guilloche dial. The dial features applied rose gold Roman numerals and hour indexes with a retrograde seconds hand at the 6 o'clock position. The display back reveals the parallel rotors that swing simultaneously to wind the movement. This watch comes on a tan crocodile strap with a stainless steel and 18kt rose gold deployant buckle. This particular watch is the last known available in North America in rose gold with a white dial. Number 24 out of 25 for the world.

Deriving their aesthetical inspiration from the field of aeronautics, Perrelet engineers and watch designers have created a new adaptation of the Perrelet “ Double Rotor ”. The double rotor, transformed for the occasion into a turbine fitted with 12 blades made of titanium, covers the whole of the dial and slips beneath an interior black bezel. On the under dial, markers accentuate the optical effect and make the impact of this model all the more sensational. The turbine is housed in a concave-shaped case. The crown, specially worked and integrated in the case, respects these perfect lines. There is a 40 hour power reserve and a water resistance of 50 meters.
